Around America in 2.0

TabsOnObama.org seeks to redefine the presidential approval rating. TabsOnObama.org is a non-profit organization and website that asks visitors to rate various aspects of the Obama Administration on a scale of one to five.

I co-founded this web campaign and site out of excitement over the recent change in government as well as a will to make sure future presidential candidates stick to their campaign promises. Visitors to the site have the chance to rate campaign promises, cabinet members, and President Obama´s weekly radio addresses. The results are tallied together and an average rating is immediately given along with the total number of votes. Visitors can also leave thoughts and opinions pertaining to each aspect of the Administration using an advanced commenting system, which allows the highest ranked comments to be listed first.

Take a look at the project here.

Around America in 2.0 was an web-based video journalism project aimed at exploring trust and connectivity on the Internet. In 2007, I posted a video request to several popular websites asking for volunteers to drive, house, and feed me on an 80-day trip around the country.

It worked. I lived with and was transported by 56 volunteers from around the continental United States. I then filmed all my adventures and produced an daily web show from the footage on the project's site.

Check out archives from the show and the video that got it all started here.

alive in baghdad

Alive in Baghdad was a weekly news program distributed via RSS. The show employed Iraqi journalists to produce video packages each week about a variety of topics on daily life in Iraq. Through the work of a team of Americans and Iraqi correspondents on the ground, Alive in Baghdad showed the conflict through the voices of Iraqis. I volunteered my services here on and off for over a year as a video editor. Along with the project's founders, I edited transcripts and cut up large amounts of footage into 5-minute news reports.
